Tofunaisse

and what happens when 'tofu maynaisse' is left a bit too long; cleaned a few spots off last week, but this is now far too gone for salvage! Note the off color of what used to be white mixture beneath the mold--

This is what happens when you don't use cheese for a l o n g time! Luckily, the Provolone being cheese, we just scrapped off the mold. Good as new!

Coffee!!

We save the coffee grounds for composting; this began molding before getting taken to the composter. The blue against the dark coffee is particularly striking!

Really Sour Cream!

This emerged from on top of a container of soy marinade, where it had been lurking for some time.

Joni's Black Raspberry Jam!

Our good friend Joni, who gives us jam and applesauce in return for tomato sauce, various soups, and nut butter, provided this organic black raspberry jam from her kitchen; look what happened when it got left out in the humid Ohio spring! Scrapped off the mold; just as good as ever.

Smoked Tofu!

A slice of smoked tofu in a plastic baggie somehow got tucked behind the carton of eggs in the door. Whoops!

We started smoking tofu a couple of years ago, after tasting the results of smoking tofu and other soy foods at Dragon Fly Neo V Cuisine here in Columbus, a world-class vegan restaurant with Magdiale Wolmark, one of the most creative chefs around. So we bought a smoker, and have been smoking tofu, tempeh, and assorted vegetables ever since.

Smoked tofu is terrific. But not when it gets lost behind the eggs!

And for more on DragonFly Neo V, check out www.dragonflyneov.com -- their food never looks like these images.

Hummos!

This is the result of a container of hummos left for bit too long; nice range of colors, though--from the light pink at the lower left through the brown at the top and the slowly increasing, full-fledged green/blue mold next to the brown!
